Sustainable Development in Higher Education—What Sustainability Skills Do Industry Need?

Higher education must provide students with tools for a broad and holistic understanding of the complex situations they will meet in their careers after graduate. This also includes issues related to sustainable development. Few studies have however been conducted where industry representatives specify what sustainability skills require. The aim present study is achieve better needs student’s knowledge. Industry opinions on were gathered two ways: interviews executives different positions at companies workshop directors from sectors was organized. Companies expressed primarily regarding skills: (1) professionals/specialists are needed and, (2) there an equal need all managers leaders general basic competence development within number areas. While specialists well represented industry, latter rarer. institutions therefore make sure that integrated into educational programs.
